National Standards Used by the Government to Assure The Quality of Education.
In order
to improve the quality of education in Indonesia, the government needs to make
standardization. According to the National Education Standards of Indonesia (BSNP), National
Education Standards are the minimum criteria of the education system in the entire territory of
the Republic of Indonesia.

Function and Purpose Standard:

Education Standards serve as the basis for planning, implementation, and
monitoring of education in order to realize the quality of national education

of a dignified nation.

accordance with the demands of changes in local, national, and global.
The National Education Standards of Indonesia (BSNP) had
regulated through Government Regulation (PP) No; 19 Year 2005 and set eight
contents of the Standards of Education; (1) content standard,
(2) process standards, (3) graduate competence standards, (4) educator and
education staff standards, (5) facilitates and infrastructure standards, (6)
management standards, (7) financial standards, and (8)education assessment
standards.

Content standards:

Graduates
Competency Standards: graduate qualification capabilities
that include attitudes, knowledge, and skills.

Graduate competence standards are used as the assessment guideline to
decide the graduate of education units.

No 19 of 2005 Article 26 paragraph 1: Graduate competence standards of
elementary education level have purpose to implement the basic of intelligent,
knowledge, personality, character, and skill to make the learners independent
and be able to follow the next education level.

intermediate education level have purpose to develop intelligent, knowledge,
personality, character, and skill to make the learners independent and be able
to follow the next education level.

have purpose to develop intelligent, knowledge, personality, character, and
skill to make the learners independent and be able to follow the next education

education level have purpose to prepare the learners as the society members who
are have good character, knowledge, creativity, independence and attitude to

and Infrastructure Standards: minimum criteria of
the classroom, gymnasium, place of worship, libraries, laboratories, workshops,
a playground, a place to be creative and recreation, and other learning
resources needed to support the learning process, including the use of
information and communication technology.
(1) Law
No 19 of 2005 article 42 paragraph 1: Every education units must have
facilitates such as furniture, education utilities, education media, books and
learning resources, material of consumption, and other equipments to support
learning process.
(2) Law

facilitates such as area, classrooms, leader room, educators room,
administration room, library, laboratories, mechanical room, production room,
canteen, service and resources installation, gymnastic, praying room, playing room, creative room,
and other rooms which is necessary to support the learning process.

Regulation No 24 of 2007: It is about standards of facilitates and
infrastructure for elementary school, junior high school, and senior high
school.

infrastructure for particular elementary school, particular junior high school,
and particular senior high school.

Management
Standards: The standards that govern the planning,
implementation, and supervision of educational activities at the unit level of
education, county / city, provincial, or national level in order to achieve
efficiency and effectiveness of education.
(1) Law No 19 of 2005 article 49 paragraph 1 :
Management of education units at elementary and intermediate levels applies
school base management with independence, partnership, participation, openness,
and accountability.
(2) Law

level applies university autonomy with adjustable boundaries by the applied law
to give freedom and encourage the independence of academic management,
operational, applied law to give freedom and encourage the independence of
academic management, operational, personnel, finance, and other staff

Standards: The standards regulate the amount of components and
unit operating costs of education are valid for one year.

school, junior high school, senior high school, vocational school, particular

Standards: The standards that govern the
mechanisms, procedures, and assessment instruments learners learning
achievement.

educator, (b) assessment of learners learning result by education units, (c)
assessment of learners learning result by government
